A Streetcar Named Desire is a celebrated Tennessee Williams play. Its reputation was further enhanced in the early 1950s when the famous Hollywood auteur Elia Kazan adapted it for film, starring the legendary Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh as the two central characters of Stanley Kowalski and Blanche.

Last week Pakistani theatre group Drama Queen Productions staged its version of the play, directed by Sarah Saifi, at Karachi’s Arts Council to critical acclaim. Kumayl Reza Zaidi played the part of Stanley Kowalski and Blanche was performed by Mashal Khan. Director Sarah Saifi herself did the role of Stella. The drama ran from Aug 15 to Aug 21.
