LAHORE: Well-backed horses made a clean sweep to oblige their backers when a card of seven events was decided during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday evening.

The 30 100 favourite bay unknown pedigree horse, Umar’s Love, thrice runners-up in as many previous outings, at last won the race to set the pace for the public fancied horses in the opener.

He was followed by even-money favourite bay filly Tera Karam, who edged out gelding Imandar in the second race.

The half-money favourite gelding King Of Murad made it a pillar-to-post success in the third race while in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh races favourites Heart Beat, Dua, Baby Doll and Olympus registered popular victories to the delight of their backers, who returned home merrily.

A 20-minute downpour after the fifth race did not have much effect on the all-weather racecourse and the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards resumed the equine action within half-an-hour to go through the entire seven-race card smoothly.
