BAHAWALPUR: The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has announced tour packages to historical and recreational places in Bahawalpur division.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the corporation said the decision was taken to sensitise tourists and visitors to the civilisation, culture and areas of this region.

The three-to-four-day tour packages would be offered for the crumbling Derawar Fort in Cholistan, Sadiq Garh Palace of the late nawab of Bahawalpur at Dera Nawab Sahib, Noor Mahal, Uch Sharif, the Agha Khan award-winning Masjid Bhong near Sadiqabad, culmination of five rivers at Panjnad Headworks near Uch Sharif constructed around 1932, Masjid Al-Sadiq -- the construction of which was started by the late Nawab Sadiq Khan Abbasi in the ‘50s, one of South Asia’s largest national parks in Lal Sohanra, Bahawalpur zoo established by the late nawab, and the central library that was formerly known as the State Library.

During these trips, tourists would be provided with guides and offered camel and jeep safari, moonlit walks and trekking.

BOOKED: Five people mentioned in the Fourth Schedule were booked under Anti-Terrorist Act on Thursday night for failing to report at their respective police stations.

Naseer Ahmed, Zafar Bokhari, Akram, Imdaullah Makki and Mahmoodur Rehman Siddiqui had been called by police stations of Baghdadul Jadid, Civil Lines and Nowshera Jadid for attendance, but they failed to report.

The men had not been arrested until the filing of this report.

STRIKE: Local trade bodies endorsed the strike call on Aug 1 (today) against withholding tax on bank transactions.
