GWADAR: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Whidang said on Monday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would start a new era of development and prosperity in Asia.

He was speaking during visit to a monument built in memory of slain Chinese in Gwadar.

He hoped the CPEC project would change the fate of Asia.

Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Dostain Khan Jamaldani, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Abdul Hameed Abro, mayor and deputy mayor, public representatives and officials of China Port Handing Company were also present on the occasion.

“Pakistan-China friendship is higher than mountainous and deeper than oceans,” Sun Whidang said, adding that both Pakistan and China helped each other in hard times. He said that Chinese people consider Pakistan as their second home and that was why a large number of Chinese engineers and experts were working in different parts of Pakistan.

Chinese envoy further said that the full functioning of Gwadar Port would open ways of development for Central Asia and nearby countries and people of these countries would avail vast business opportunities.

Later, the Chinese envoy visited schools in Gwadar and met teachers and students. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the China Port Handing Company and managements of government and private schools of Gwadar. The Chinese envoy announced Rs04 million for the betterment of hospitals and schools in Gwadar.
