PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said oil and gas exploration activities in Fata would help bring real change in the lives of tribal people.

He expressed these views while speaking at a meeting regarding launch of upstream oil and gas activities in Fata, here on Friday. Muzaffar Ahmed Virk, country manager of Tullow Pak Development Limited, and its manager Tahir Maqsood, were also in attendance.

Mahtab Khan said initiation of economic activities in Fata could bring real change in the tribal region.

Mr Virk informed the meeting that Tullow Pakistan Development was one of the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in Europe. He said in order to carry out successful working in tribal areas a permanent base camp would be established far from the exploration site where the dislocated people would be settled.

The governor asked the oil exploration experts to work with open mind and bring change in the mindset of the tribal people by raising the quality and standard of their life through ensuring profit oriented activities.
