MQM's Qamar Mansoor sent on transit remand in Rangers custody

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate has sent Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Rabita Committee's Qamar Mansoor, who was detained during a Friday raid on Nine Zero, on a three-day-long transit remand in Rangers' custody.
Judicial magistrate district central on special duty remanded Mansoor on Sunday in response to the Rangers' request until courts re-open after gazetted Eid holidays.
The Rangers had to present Mansoor before the judicial magistrate within 24 hours of his arrest to justify his detention. The magistrate handed Mansoor to the Rangers and directed them to produce the MQM activist before Anti-Terrorism Court II after Eid in connection with preventive detention.
Mansoor and Rabita Committee in-charge Kaiful Warah were detained by the paramilitary force in a pre-dawn raid on the party's Nine-Zero headquarters in the early hours of Friday.
Warah was later granted a 'conditional release' as long as he "reported to the Rangers authorities after the culmination of given period", a Rangers spokesman said.
The two were apprehended for "arranging and facilitating" what Director-General Sindh Rangers Major-General Bilal Akbar called "hate speeches against peace of Karachi”.
Friday's was the second raid by Rangers on Nine Zero this year.

Also on Sunday, party chief Altaf Hussain issued a statement saying he had decided to go on a hunger strike unto death in protest of what he called victimisation of MQM workers and their detention by security forces. He said he would commence the hunger strike after getting a nod from the London administration.
Late on Sunday night however, MQM's Rabita Committee appealed to Hussain to take back his decision on starting the hunger strike.

Rangers have gone after MQM because they have the biggest militant wing. Since Rangers did their operation there has been no bhata or target killing. After them it will be other parties too which have militant wings. No one is after muhajirs, they are Pakistani too, this operation is against the bad elements in MQM.

Another example of politicized and biased behavior of our LEAs and I don't have words to comment on our judicial system. I mean look at the charges against this guy and he has been sent on detention while murderers of Lahore model town masacre are roaming freely.
This Panjab establishment is spoiling the image of our great armed forces. The entire nation loves pakistan army but rangers and I repeat only the ones posted in sindh are settling their personal agenda against one particular party.

Sometimes it is Federal government sometimes it is the other provincial party sometimes it is the weather. Lot of reasons while being in power with the same parties. All in all this is a power game. Rangers will loose its good image that they created recently due to these discriminated arrests. Everyone needs to have the aerial view to understand what is happening. Both PPP and PML-N wants to have control over Karachi and Hyderabad because it generates 70% revenue for the whole Pakistan. Both want to disrupt MQM so that the old legacy can be broken and power can be shared. But certainly this is not the way. More and more people will start supporting MQM after such actions from the government and rangers.

@MAK You must be kidding me!!!, I visited Karachi in November last year, I could barely go to Tariq road or to DHS, Now in June things were much better. I have voted for MQM for ever, no more. Altaf and his cronies must go for MQM to be a reputable party. MQM should voluntarily give up all the target killers etc.

Why to target only one political party? Don't we know that there criminals in all parties. Don't we know that liyari gang war is supported by PPP? Don't we know that ANP elements are collecting monies "bhatas" and Lots of other activities in Karachi? There criminals in PMLN likes of Gulu Butts. But pick and target will not work In fact we may see support for MQM increased. There are criminals in all corners of Pakistan and State, Army and our intelegence agencies have not acted transparently but baisely the way they are doing right now in Karachi.
