LANDI KOTAL: A local welfare organisation will build a modern hospital in Akkakhel area of Bara to provide better healthcare to the poor people.
The announcement was made by Afridiyan Welfare Foundation’s president Nabeel Afridi while addressing the annual meeting of volunteers in Jamrud on Monday. He said Rs50 million would be spent on the construction of hospital which would be named as Akkakhel Memorial Hospital.
He said cricketer Shahid Afridi had pledged Rs20 million for the hospital, while the remaining funds would be provided by Javed Afridi, a local industrialist.
Nabeel Afridi said the construction of hospital would be started soon and free medical care would be provided to the poor and deserving patients.
He said the foundation was also spending a handsome amount on promotion of education, and distributed Rs4 million, 7,000 school bags and stationary to the poor students of Bara.
On the occasion, the foundation’s head gave away cash prizes and certificates to 18 students of Khyber Agency who had secured positions in secondary school certificate examinations of the Peshawar board.
