Will not be undermined, Imran Khan tells Wajihuddin

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in a July 4 letter addressing retd Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed blamed the retired judge for "damaging the PTI".
"All your pronouncements are unwarranted and devoid of underlying authority besides damaging the PTI," he said, accusing Wajihuddin of 'overstepping his mandate'.

The PTI chief said Wajihuddin's "pronouncements since dissolution of the election tribunal ... encouraged opportunists within the party and those who were expelled for valid reasons to exploit the situation and settle personalised vendettas against party leaders", which he said may "lead to undermining the party's public standing and provide pretext to our political opponents causing growing concern among a vast swathe of party workers."
He also spoke of a "man with question marks over his conduct including on financial matters" who he had warned the tribunal about, saying he had targeted "senior and respectable party members in what has evidently become a personalised vendetta."

Imran Khan said Wajihuddin no longer had the authority to issue edicts on behalf of the "defunct election tribunal", which was "established for a specific purpose and with time-bound existence". He said the tribunals job was to probe petitions relating to intra-party elections.
The PTI chairman said the tribunal had been dissolved as its recommendations had been implemented.

"The tribunal had no authority to order shortening the terms of office bearers of the party as these were contained in the PTI constitution. Nor did the tribunal have the authority to assert that a caretaker set up be appointed immediately, members of which would not be able to participate in the next intra-party elections," he said.
The PTI chairman concluded by saying that, although he respected the elder, he could not allow him or anyone else to "damage" the party by trangressing the limits of their mandate.
He 'formally requested' Wajihuddin to "refrain from making any more pronouncements on behalf of the defunct election tribunal."

No one can question Retd Justice Wajihuddin's intentions or honour. Justice Wajihuddin is one of the few people in Pakistan whose integrity is beyond reproach. PTI is just alienating itself and painting itself into a corner by conducting such actions.

Imran Khan has exposed his own failures and is making Justice Wajihuddin (r) a 'scapegoat' for loss of image. His coterie of senior advisors are not proving to be of much use. They are misfits including IK himself. Social work is his current strength based on his popularity, he should leave politics and not damage the potential for good that he has built up in the social domain.

This was supposed to happen. When the persons named in his report have been given same positions with in party then what you expect. If his report was wrong then why dissolved party positions in the 1st place? If done that then it meant that his report was all correct so how can same person got same position again?

utterly shameful from Imran. He constituted a tribunal and when tribunal proved rigging in his own party elections and advised steps to fix it, he undermined the tribunal by appointing the same people to important posts rather than conducting fresh elections. This is the model of democracy he wants to introduce.

IKs popularity is growing not diminishing....there is no big deal if the letter is spread in the media and there is no secret in this letter.
A lot of change has already been brought by these dharnas like NS and his team now seem to work whereas they were sleeping before which is a good sign. There should be a healthy competition and we will be the ultimate beneficiary rather than these politicians coming and minting money.

Those celebrating this should go to their parties and see what type of operations those are - secretive corporations or family entities with no transparency or accountability. This is about PTI's internal affairs and how the party conducts itself. There is absolutely no precedence in Pakistan - period.

@Khadija Agreed. But it is NOT in his agenda anymore to issue sermons on behalf of the defunct Tribunal. No party in the history of Pakistan (or for that matter in the sub continent) has dared an intra party election and thereafter, constituted a tribunal to see where the faults were. Mr. Justice Wajihuddin, you are a respectable man, please do not disrespect yourself. You did your job, now it is the party who decides what to do with your findings .. and it is. Help a democratic party survive and nurture and not destroyed and ruined.

I will always support IK and I think it is OK if he makes mistakes which don't hurt the general public. At least he isn't looting our money. He is new to the game of politics while all the other parties have been there for ages. In our huge expectations from PTI, we often forget about the ground realities that it is a new party fighting it out with clever oppositions. After Javed Naseem accepted to conspire against IK in his interview to Saleem Sahafi I can't rule out any such attempts from within again. I only trust IK because he has done great service to Pakistan in the past.

PTI - I am happy with there performance in KPK I am sure they are doing what's right. Its a party in making and growing so you may see issues like this here and there, I don't think so its a big deal. I am not going to blame either of them. At the end of day I fully support IK and PTI. They may have problems, lack of experience but I am certain they are not corrupt.

Lets say for a moment IK is an honest guy. But he is surrounded by crooks from PPP, and PML-N, the crooks in PTI are not any different from those who are still in PPP and PML-N. The old crooks are electable whether they are in PTI, PPP, or PML-N hence they have a political advantage and I don't think these so called leaders will bring any change. Can Jehangir Tareen allow investigations into his empire? Pakistan has not changed, growing up in Pakistan I saw same practices carried out by politicians, bureaucrats, and army generals back in the 60s and 70s only the faces have changed not the practice.

In Pakistani politics, there is nothing but fighting. Do not lose the big picture - the well being of Pakistani people. Here is the big question:
If Pakistan was a presidential system and Imran, Nawaz, Zardari, Altaf Hussain, Fazlur Rehman, and some others were running for president, who will you vote for? Who do you think is more honest and capable of bringing prosperity to Pakistan and its people?
If you look at the bigger picture, you will vote for Imran at this time.

Sometimes, it needs time to flourish to a system and for that, rules are meant to bent with the process of evolution. Who can bent the rules? I say the man, who had the sole courage to bring the party to this place, The Chairman, has whole right to do it. he can and SHOULD supersede everyone in time of crisis like these.
One more thing, Pakistan's people are totly unpredictable. When before election, it clearly felt like IK is going to win, the whole picture looked totally settled, and look what the people decided (set aside the rigging issue for a moment).
And when this Wajihuddin saga is looking like tarnishing the image of the party, (like one comment said here that its sort of the beginning of end for PTI) but we can CLEARLY see people are too fast joining PTI. Whichever party they leave, they are only joining PTI.
I dont see any end coming to PTI.
