NOWSHERA: Hundreds of residents of different localities on Sunday demonstrated outside the Pesco subdivision office at Nowshera Kalan here against the unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding.

They complained that Pesco didn’t repair out of order transformers despite lodging several complaints. They alleged that Pesco men demanded bribes to repair the faulty power transformers.

Similarly, people of Risalpur protested the prolong loadshedding by blocking the GT road to vehicular traffic.

Residents of Akora Khattak, Khairabad, Shaidu, Rashakai, Pabbi and Nezam Pure areas protested against the loadshedding during sehri and iftari hours. They chanted slogan against the government for failing to provide relief to them during the holy month of Ramazan.

Meanwhile, Risalpure police arrested an auto thief and recovered a stolen car from him on Sunday.

Police said that Shaukat was arrested while trying to drive away a stolen car to a safer place in Rashakai area.

Police said that they were informed by their counterparts in Sargodaha district of Punjab that a person had stolen a car at gunpoint and fled to Peshawar.

They said that the car lifter was arrested while driving the stolen white coloured car from Rashakai interchange to Hamza Rashakai. They said that police personnel had been deployed at different points in Rashakai area to arrest the car thief.
