KARACHI: Personnel of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, escaped a suicide attack in Orangi Town on Monday night, police said.

“During a search operation by the paramilitary force, a suicide bomber blew himself up in Faqir Colony,” said Karachi West DIG Feroze Shah.

The DIG said when the Rangers’ personnel encircled the suspect for arrest, the bomber threw a hand-grenade on their mobile before blowing himself up. The Rangers’ personnel remained unhurt.

The DIG said more Rangers and police personnel were called in after the incident who launched a targeted operation in the area, believed to be dominated by militants.

DSP Orangi Town said that two `terrorists’ were killed in the blast.
