LAHORE: Another three to four-day spell of rain-thundershowers with dust storms is likely to lash upper parts of the country and north-eastern Punjab, including Lahore from Sunday.
These areas have already experienced rain and thunderstorm this week (from Sunday to Thursday). The westerly wave that caused this was still persisting over Kashmir on Friday.
According to an advisory of the Pakistan Meteorological Department on Friday, a fresh westerly weather system was likely to enter upper parts of the country on Sunday. It was expected to prevail over upper and central parts of the country till middle of the next week.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-thundershowers with dust storms were expected at scattered places in Islamabad, FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan divisions), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Sunday (evening-night) to Wednesday while at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Sahiwal divisions on Tuesday/Wednesday.
The department advised farmers of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA to adopt necessary precautionary measures during the period.
Meanwhile, weather remained mild in the plains of Punjab on Friday due to the four-day spell of rain, recording maximum temperature nearly 35 degrees C as against 45 last week.
The maximum temperature in Lahore was 35.5 degrees C
The Met office forecast mainly hot and dry weather in the city with chances of dust raising winds in the next 24 hours.
Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, dust raising winds are likely at scattered places of Sindh, Balochistan and plain areas of Punjab.
