SHEFFIELD: Judd Trump will play Hong Kong’s Marco Fu in the second round of the World Championship following his 10-6 win over Stuart Carrington on Thursday.
Trump, the 2011 finalist, led 7-2 overnight and although made to work harder than forecast on Thursday he still finished the match with a century break.
“I’m just going to focus on my own game,” Trump told the BBC. “There’s obviously a lot of anticipation this year.
“My results have shown that I’m playing some good stuff, I felt like I played well over the past two days.
“There’s obviously a few things I need to work on but other than that I feel very confident.”
However, asked who was the favourite for this year’s tournament, Judd steered clear of tipping multiple world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan and went for Australia’s Neil Robertson, the 2010 winner, and title-holder Mark Selby.
“In my eyes, I think Neil’s probably the underdog,” Trump said.
