I WOULD like to refer to a news item which appeared in Dawn’s Metro South (April 13) where the Government of Sindh in a Public-Private Partnership arrangement is launching an inter-city bus service for Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Benazirabad and Larkana from April 14.

It seems that the Government of Sindh is adventuring on projects which have little economic return. In case of bus service, many earlier ventures were absolute flops.

In this case, the proposal should have been discussed in the Sindh Assembly to delibrate on the terms and conditions of the deal. It is feared that it might be drain on the exchequer of the province if adequate revenue is not generated to make for the loss of the firm that is expected due to competition from the private sector.
