KARACHI: A 35-year-old policeman was shot dead in New Karachi on Friday evening, the Bilal Colony police said.

They added that Mohammed Naeem was riding a motorcycle when a gunman travelling in a car attacked him near Do Minute Chowrangi.

The attack took place after some arguments between them, the police added. The constable sustained a single bullet wound in the chest and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

At the time of the incident the policeman was in plain clothes. He was posted at the Nazimabad police station. The police believed that it was a case of targeted killing. The deceased was a resident of the same area where the incident took place.
