QUETTA: Armed men killed three persons, including two women, near the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan's Zhob district on Thursday morning.

Levies sources told DawnNews that assailants opened indiscriminate fire at a vehicle in Zhob's Qamaruddin Karez area. Subsequently, three people, including two women, of the same family were killed in the attack.

The family was going from Sambaza to Gul Kach when they were fired upon near the border.

The assailants escaped unhurt from the spot.

Levies personnel reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.

The casualties were rushed to Civil Hospital Zhob for a postmortem.

Zhob is considered to be one of the sensitive districts of Balochistan since it borders with the country's volatile tribal belt. It is also considered to be a transit point for militants sneaking from neighbouring Afghanistan and the tribal belt of Pakistan.
