KARAK: The provincial government of PTI failed to bring any change in the province, alleged JUI-F leader Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel here on Monday.

Addressing a public meeting in Isak Chountra area, he said that the PTI government brought no change in Karak except taking commissions in development schemes.

He said that PTI got votes in the last general elections in the name of change and establishment of a corruption-free society but instead it introduced the culture of 15 per cent commission in developmental projects.

Mr Kakakhel said that tears gas shells were fired on the innocent people of the district who were demanding their rights. The elected representatives of the district were not in a position even to face the people as they tortured their voters instead of resolving their problems, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, JUI-F district president Hafiz Ibn-i-Ameen said that some political elements were dividing people of the district for their personal interests.

He said that they were deceiving people by announcing development schemes ahead of local government elections. It was pre-poll rigging, he alleged. He demanded of the government to place ban on announcement of development projects.

On the occasion, Rehman Gul was nominated candidate of the party for district council elections from Isak Chountra and Taj Mohammad Khan for tehsil council from the same area.

PROTEST: The members of Wapda Hydro Union held a protest demonstration here on Monday against the privatisation of the entity.

Led by Peer Gul Zahir Shah, Zahid Khan, Ihsanullah and Rehmanuddin, the protesters said that privatisation of Wapda was against the interests of the workers. They demanded two-step promotion for the employees of all categories and one month bonus for the workers. They also opposed induction of members in the board of directors on the basis of political affiliation.

The protesters said that they continue to oppose privatisation of Wapda. They added that their protest would continue till its logical end. They said that a professional person should be appointed chief executive of Pesco.
