Malaysian defence chief all praise for Zarb-i-Azb success

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Malaysia, Gen Tan Sri Dato Sri Haji Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters here on Monday.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest, including defence and security cooperation between the two countries, and the overall regional security situation, said an ISPR press release.

Gen Tan Sri Dato appreciated successes of Zarb-i-Azb military operation and paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Gen Tan Sri Dato, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, also called on Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Gen Rashad Mahmood.

They discussed matters relating to the security situation and of professional interest with an emphasis on mutual cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.

It was reiterated that the already existing collaboration would be enhanced, said an Inter Services Public Relations press release.

Gen Tan Sri Dato appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces of Pakistan in eliminating the menace of terrorism.

He praised the commitment and resolve displayed by the people of Pakistan despite multiple challenges.

Earlier on his arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, Gen Tan Sri Dato was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of tri-services.
