KARACHI: The Foreign Minister, Mr. Z. A. Bhutto, declared in Karachi that by rushing military assistance to India, a country hostile to Pakistan, the United States of America has not merely jeopardised the concept of alliances but has shattered it. However, he added, Pakistan attached the highest importance to her relations with the U.S., and not unmindful of the collaboration and the co-operation that existed between her and the U.S., she would like to maintain warm and cordial relations with the USA.

Addressing a Press conference at his Clifton residence, Mr Bhutto explained at length Pakistan’s developing relations with China vis-a-vis her relations with the USA. He admitted that Pakistan had moved closer to China and that there had developed a great understanding between China and Pakistan. But, he pointed out, that had not been at the cost of the USA and what [is] more her relations with China had developed along the lines consistent with the objectives of world peace.
