Pakistan Day celebrated in Balochistan

QUETTA: Like other parts of the country, Pakistan Day was celebrated on Monday in Balochistan with national zeal and fervour.

The main ceremony to mark the day held at Askari Park in Quetta was attended by Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai, Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Mohammad Naseer Khan Janjua, Inspector General, Frontier Corps Balochistan, Maj Gen Sher Afgun, IG Police Amlesh Khan, provincial ministers, senior officials and a large number of citizens.

In his speech, the governor said, “It is honour for me that I am attending a ceremony held in connection with Pakistan Day.

Pakistan was achieved with great sacrifices and struggle and we are celebrating this day to remember the movement run for making of Pakistan.”

The commander, Southern Command, said Pakistan Day is a historical day as on this day the Muslims of the subcontinent got rid of slavery of Britain rulers.

Lauding the role of people of Balochistan, he said, “They fully supported the efforts made for restoration of peace in the province.”

He said that people of Balochistan supported democracy and by putting in place the local government system they had proved their support for democracy.

“Balochistan is on way from darkness to light and Pak Army thanks people of Balochistan for extending their full cooperation for restoration of peace and getting goals of progress and prosperity in the province,” he said.

Later, the governor and the commander inspected stalls set up in connection with the Pakistan Day.

A large number of people, including women and children, attended the ceremony.
