Modi extends greetings to PM Nawaz on Pakistan Day

In a tweet posted on his official Twitter account Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had written to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to convey his greetings on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

Modi also tweeted that he believes bilateral dialogue, in an atmosphere free from violence and terror, can help resolve all outstanding problems.

Earlier in Jan on the occasion of India’s Republic Day, Nawaz had also greeted his Indian counterpart and said both leaders could work together for regional peace and South Asia’s economic development.

“In wishing the people of India progress and prosperity, it is our sincere wish to forge friendly and cooperative relations between our two countries,” PM Nawaz had said, adding that Pakistan remained committed to developing friendly relations with India on the basis of “sovereign equality, mutual respect and commonality of interests”.

A highly-anticipated joint military parade by the armed forces of Pakistan took place today in Islamabad after a gap of seven years, to commemorate the historic Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940 — a day which marks the the birth of a separate state for Muslims.
The joint military parade had been a regular event with display of military power and show of Pakistan’s folk culture, which captured the imagination of the public quite like the traditional parade, with its impressive march-pasts and aerial shows.

I am strongly critic of Modi on his policies against Minorities and other fanatical approaches. But this is really good gesture shown by Indian PM. This approach is needed to bring peace back in this region. I would say thanks to him.

Well done PM Modi !!!! but this effort will be in vain because discussing Kashmir is more important for Pakistanis then trade, economy, terrorism and trust building. Pakistan can not live without discussion Kashmir issue without acknowledging the fact that same approach by them has kept this issue hanging since 1947.

Have never reconciled to the partition of India, and to the creation of a Pakistan on communal grounds. I believe Pakistan, like India should have been secular in it's conception and not communal. But that is my opinion.
Respect to the people of Pakistan on their national day, with a fervent hope for peace and prosperity for all in the near future and that Pakistan finds her place in the sun.

@Hassan Yep, why no one thinks of sending a joint team to England and Australia once every few years to beat it out of them. Would increase people to people contact by jointly supporting the team and will be a good trust building measure.

How a diplomatic statement which NS has conveyed in even better words a hundreds time, can be seen as big heart, good gesture etc. If you both sides, want to solve outstanding issues once for all then it can be done in 3 months but you don't want to do that then we can go on to be diplomatic be it Sharif or Modi.
