I don't think Misbah should retire just yet. Maybe in another year or two. The team is in a terrible situation right now. Try to build it up a bit before quitting.

I request PCB to convince both Misbah and Afridi not to retire. They both are super fit and performing. Our youngsters are not ready yet. We clearly saw that throughout the world cup and other tournaments. Please Misbah and Afridi stay for 2 years. Let us have a stable team. Train a new captain and then retire.

I admire Pakistan's cricket; I grew up admiring all your great ones- Javed Mianda, Zaheer Abbas, Majid Khan, Imarn, etc. they will rebuild, come back and fight another day, like all great team do; Pakistan's fielding coach resigning at the start may be a sign that fielding was not taken seriously by the players! Also, Irfan's exit based on Pelvic injury, before knock out stage, was a big loss.

Australian bowlers and fielding were at the best. Pakistan played mostly loose balls, led to catches.

Afridi is a talented cricketer but he never played to his full potential mostly due to lack of control. A perfect example of wasted talent.Wherein Misbah is a class player, I would say he never got support from his team mates. Moreover, he plays like an opening batsman, but he comes to bat at number five. That too is a problem.

We deserve to lose. We were useless in all departments of the game. May India win the world cup. Inshah Allah.

Will miss Shahid. I havent seen him playing very big innings but i truly enjoyed whenever he was on crease either with bat or with ball.

Misbah was very good batsman and was unlike other Pakistani batsmen. His record could have been better if he would have batted up the order at no. 3 or 4. Pakistan is going to miss him for sure. But he was never a match winner. Most of the times he threw away his wicket at the wrong time or start hitting the ball once it is too late. Afridi well, as a batsman he was more effective while batting up the order and he was never that good batting against old ball. Never read the match situation and never listened to anybody. In app. 400 matches he was good may be in 30-40 matches only which is only 10% of the games played by him. This made him look like a fluke player than anything else. Definitely he was a better bowler than batsman. All the best for these two Pakistani Greats!!

misbah deserve it.all the last four years of his captaincy was full of controversy which resulted in a downfall of pak cricket..and one must not forget he was made captain after 2011 world cup semifinal defeat against india in which his batting was quite responsible for the defeat..

to keep pak cricket on a right track again the concerned authorities apart from other changings must also focus on the representatives of all the province in the cricket team..merit is a key factor in the performance and must b ensured..

Forget the World cup. Lets build a new fresh Pakistani cricket team. (on merit bases).

Afridi was a liability for the team from a long time, he only performed with the bat during Asia Cup. If India had adopted that attitude then Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir would have been in the World Cup squad based on their past performances.

Misbah is a great guy personally, but not an inspiring leader. Afridi is just a showman. What Pakistan needs is players like Wahab Riaz and a leader like Imran. There is no shortage of talent, but a dedicated management and few good leaders are all you need to be on top.

I strongly feel that a good performer is not always a good leader.. What pak need is a solid captain to inspire the whole team. Wining and losing is part of the game.

take Misbah out of equation and am happy could not complete his 400 wickets and we will INSHALLAH not see him anymore in our cricket .... it will pity to see if he selected again in any format of game to represent Pak. Victory does not depend on just one or two individuals. It depends on right selection of players and their performance as a cohesive unit. Afridi has played a very long innings for Pakistan and shouldered responsibility in many occasions. We as cricket fans salute him. We will miss boom boom Afridi. Misbah is a thorough gentleman cricketer and has provided stability to Pakistan middle order for quite a long time. World cricket will miss a gentleman cricketer who could lead the team gracefully in demanding situations. I will both the players a happy and peaceful future. P.S.If India Pakistan relation was normal, we could have had the opportunity to watch Afridi play in IPL for say Kolkata Knight Riders for at least couple of years. more!

Very disappointing perf. from pakistan. I was rooting for them from the star of the match - a win could have led to india pak semi clash, but the pathetic batting and the dropped catches cost them the match and looked like cakewalk for watson at the end. pakistan team should now bring fresh batting talents. for misbah and afridi...all love and best wishes from india.

Sorry for Misbah - no one really DESERVES a fairy tale ending; you have to work it but it wasn't meant to be as it is a TEAM game. Afridi's eccentricities are par to none - love'em or hate'em, i understand why people say he will be missed. we can dissect their careers some other day. All the best to them both.

afridi's world cup's performance wasn't up to mark, but he produced many remarkable performance that would be legacy of his for good.

Another 2 eye catching players say good bye to ODI cricket. Sad but time marches on. Misbah was such a well behaved gentleman skipper. Whether Pakistanis realize it or not, such players bring dignity to the game. I don't see Misbah pulling on much longer in test cricket either as it is very hard on body to maintain fitness and practice rigorously as the modern game requires.

Great players both. The game of cricket will miss them. As an Indian fan I have to say, thanks to both for wonderful memories. Misbah brought Pakistan close to beating us many times but was not to be.

Lets say good words about both as the represented us! Why we as Pakistanis have to cruel to everyone? We pushed all out players out with a words that included some nasty dents.

At last Afridi, Akmal and Younis will leave us alone. Time to bring back Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq. We are wasting these best Pakistani batsmen. They both are the strongest with their technique. Without expert batsmen, we have seen that it is difficult to bat full 50 overs.

Afridi and misbah - so totally different players. Afridi was one hit wonder, never ever reliable. afridi never cared about Staying and stabilize the inninga for the countey. He juat hit blind shots. On the ither hand misbah was always measured careful and sometimes risk averse. He saved ao many games for pakiatan and brought that calm look to the team to perform better. Misbah didnt yell on the ground at his players. We will take another misbah anytime over rash afridi. We shoukd have gone in for someone reliable in workd cup inatead of afridi. That was a waste.

@Raj_MUMBAI doesnt matter if u have a century. Misbah saved ao many games for the ream when they were down. He provided stable touch. Afridi was juat one hit wonder. Afridi saves less than 20 matches out if 390 that he played. Misbah saved pakiatan from collapse in more than 100 games. Bug koss for us as misbah goes away. But afridi wont be missed

The biggest factor in our poor performance in this WC was nervousness. We lost at least three matches because our players choked. We need a psychological coach and faith should be instilled in the players.

Whatever be the failings of Misbah and Afridi , they were never temperamental or insulting to the opposition - kudos and best wishes to them . Misbah 's absence from Pak cricket would be missed as the internal challenges before a Pak team are much more than for other major teams.

Both were useless in this short form of cricket game. They both must have retired five year ago so that other paki talent could get chance. Specially afridi who always played some stupid shots and left Pk team crises. Very bar team selection also.

@Jyoti B you must be the only Indian who shivered. I don't remember any instance where Afridi played a match winning innings against India. He comes in, plays a quick fire 15 or 20 and holes out in the deep. I don't think Indians ever made plans for afridi because he would always get himself out.

I have a hard time understanding some of the comments about Afridi calling him a legend, he really is far far from it . How was Afridi a great player ? He never played for the country, he only played for himself and as he liked. I am surprised nobody else could see it , but throughout the WC tournament I saw a rift between Misbah and Afridi. Afridi's body language showed he was defiant. He was too stuck on the fact that he wasn't chosen as captain and he had got a few other players like Akmal and Shehzad on his side , and rubbed off his defiance on them too. They just didn't seem interested to play for their country. Don't know if anyone noticed Afridi didn't even applaud Misbah's six in the match against Australia , just sat there uniterested, perhaps jealous . If anyone wonders why Wahab was so driven in this match, it was because he respects Misbah,you could see during his overs Misbah would often go upto Wahab to give him advice and he'd listen. Some players make or break a team and I think Afridi single handedly led Pakistan to it's defeat( bad performance and bad attitude) .It's a wonder how they made it to the QF but we have Misbah to thank for that, a true legend, a true hero of Pakistan.

Misbah and Afridi please don't go :( You both are fit and performing. The yongsters are not ready yet. The entire nation saw that. Pakistan cricket team needs you both.

The worst time for Misbah to retire. By far he is the most mature player in Pakistan team who knows to build an innings rather than trying to chase down 300 in 10 overs.Hope to see this guy as a coach of Pakistan team some day.

Was Hoping to see an India- Pakistan semi-final like in 2011 but lack of professional foreign coaching staff saw the Pakistan cricket team being sloppy in all 3 departments throughout this tournament !

I dont understand how Misbah after playing so many one day matches and captain for so many matches not scored a single century its shame on him and Pakistan board given him so much chance in one day matches.Look at great batsman like Hashim Amla,Sangakara,Jaywardene, Tendulkar, Kohli, Shewag,Inzamam,Javed Miandad,Saeed Anwar,Ramiz,Hafiz,Ponting ,Kallis etc scored so many Centuries and in 50 overs game. I think Misbahs technique is not allowed him to score fluently and Pakistan made unnecessary captain .He is a great politician not cricketer I request PCB to make Mohammad Hafiz as captain who is sound in battingand also will guide other PAKISTANI batsmans and say good bye to selfish MISBAH.

For a long time Afridi was the leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals; currently he is at third spot behind two of his countrymen – Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul. Afridi is the only cricketer in the world with over 8,000 runs and 350+ wickets in ODIs.His critics say that he is the slowest to 8,000 runs in ODIs. In terms of average, he surely is far slower than the rest. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that he is also the fastest to 8,000 runs in terms of strike-rate, by a mile. Afridi is at the end of the road of his international career. He gave up Test cricket in 2010, and after 19 years, he has left the ODI game as well. He will continue to play T20 cricket for Pakistan till the World Cup T20 in 2016, and we will still be treated to some more of Afridi for another year. And then he will be gone forever. Pakistan will never ever produce another shah afridi The dare devil. Ittook 19years to breakhis fastest century record.

Afridi was over rated.. Misbah was better than him in many ways..

We need to ask ourselves one question - how many matches has Afridi won for us and how many has he lost for us? - the reality is shocking , we should have let him go years ago. He is no maxwell or AB. He refuses to play lower down the order and like other power hitters and when he comes in at 6 or 7 he scores a few runs - to little to late
