Peshawar University probing PTI MNA Murad Saeed’s degree

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly (MNA) Murad Saeed’s BS (Hons) results have been held back by the University of Peshawar, according to a university spokesman.

Murad Saeed, who was elected as MNA from Swat, was a student of BS (Hons) at the university’s Environmental Sciences department from 2005 to 2009.

But according to the varsity administration, Murad Saeed had not passed his final examination. Sources said Mr. Saeed then appeared in exams for two subjects on March 2, 2015, after the department of Environmental Sciences made especial arrangements for him.

University of Peshawar spokesman Akhtar Amin, while talking to Dawn, said vice chancellor Dr. Rasool Jan took notice of the incident and ordered that Murad Saeed’s results be held back. The vice chancellor has also formed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter.

The inquiry committee will be headed by the dean of the Numerical and Physical Sciences department, Dr. Gulzar Khan, and will submit its report to the vice chancellor.

As long as he has not cheated, which I believe he has not, seem to be a man of conscience, it is okay. it is not a big deal, to get a chance to reappear in the examination.

Is he the only parliamentarian with dubious credentials? Speaker of National Assembly credibility is doubtful, what about the Chief Minister of Punjab is he not responsible for the massacre of innocent people in Lahore, how about the Prime Minister? The present political set-up has made the entire nation look like the one from primitive ages.

This should not be a problem of Murad Saeed, rather VC should check his University staff if they followed or not followed rules.

Murad Saeed should be expelled from the party... he has appeared in numerous talk shows just talking non-sense... on one he almost got into a fight with Ex-CJ's son who no doubt himself is an uncouth but it does not mean that one start a fist fight on a national TV bringing shame to Pakistan... was surprised that Saeed was later praised for his antics by PTI leadership... get serious and professional PTI folks if you indeed want to bring change in Pakistan...

Apparently it seems that the problem is not with the candidate but rather the university staff who allowed him to take the exam. Now they want to discredit him. He seems v.simple guy. If he has done some thing illegal he should be definitely taken to the task

@Ahmed USA i have only one comment to your observations.. i am surprised that you are surprised that IK a.k.a also known as 'leader', 'visionary' and Pakistan tehreek e imran; among other senior leadership praised murad for his antics & non-sense there should not be a surprise, these people don't have acumen, political acumen is not even to be discussed there are out to correct the world, while falling face down every time. let them learn it is part of democracy.

No sense.. this is politically motivated. Murad is a very intelligent young man, even if he had to give supplementary exams, they are a routine thing and often happen in March. What else do they need to investigate ?

@Syed Ganga Din If you leave him alone we will reap the result later. It is better to correct the action done by individual. I know the mass is corrupt and the question will be why not leave one out of corrupt masses. If one is corrected now is actually a correction to the coming generation.

people need to stop jumping to conclusion. if he indeed violated rules and lied about IK will kick him out of the party. This is what separates PTI from other parties. They take action against the corrupt. They lead by example. They clean their house first before lecturing to the others. It is not written on anyone's face as to who is corrupt or with fake degree. The party will filter them out as they find them.

There is no graduation condition to contest the elections, but if he declared himself as Graduate in his nomination papers, then of course, he has cheated and violated his oath of correctness of information given on the nomination papers. On that pretext he can be disqualified from the seat.

While you are at it, could you also see how many more of our political leaders have legitimately obtained their designations? Our leaders are traditionally from well-to-do families and it will not be too difficult to buy their degrees.

People at the helm of educational affairs are clerical minded loosers indeed. I dont understand why people in judiciary, education almost every dept with little power want to make out an example of every little thing. He should be scrutinized based on his previous performance of his exams. Poor morality and low esteemed individuals in helm of affairs. VERY UNFORTUNATE!!!

Though I am a staunch supporter of PTI but if Murad Saeed is not a graduate and has tampered with the process, he should be punished for this. Who allowed the department of environmental sciences to make special arrangement for Murad Saeed exam. When there is smoke there is fire. Or if you walk like a duck and quack like a duck, you are a duck. This must be investigated and I highly appreciate the VC University of Peshawar for action in this regard.

“The committee will investigate whether the department conducted the examination under established rules and regulation and whether these exams were held in a transparent manner,” said the university spokesperson. Isn't this strange! Do such things really happen in the Land of Pure-Pakistan! University Examinations being held without the knowledge and notice of the University and its Faculty!

@goodDeedsLeadTo He has definitely cheated. I just came across his affidavit to Election commission (dated 30-3-2013) in which he solemnly affirms that he completed his BSc (HONS) from University of Peshawar, but only waiting for his degree. So this is clear cut cheating.

@goodDeedsLeadTo According to Semester System, a failed student has to sit in the whole semester for repeating a course in order to be evaluated through out and cannot be allowed directly in final examination (having only 40 or 50% weightage of the semster marks). As per information in press Murad appeared in final exam directly and instead of 40/50% his papers were taken at par as 100% marks. Thats oversteping law by the Department ................................

@naveed malik Clearing the examination with submitting "blank answer sheets" is the talent not 02 or 03 courses in one go. Murad Saeed qualified "Semester Courses" in two hours which needs to take complete semster or 04 months and 18 days...............Squeezing this much period is a talent........................
