ISLAMABAD: Aabpara police have registered a case against the naib khateeb of Lal Masjid, Maulana Amir Siddique, for violating the amplifier act on Friday.
It may be noted that the use of loudspeaker except for Azaan and Friday sermon in Arabic is prohibited in the federal capital.
A police official requesting not to be identified said though a case had been registered against Maulana Siddique, hardly any clerk was arrested in that sort of cases.
“Though clerics are informed that they cannot use the loudspeaker, a majority of them do not follow it,” he said.

So the government created a law which it had no intention to implement. Obviously it was done for a show by Punjab government (Showbaz Sharif).
We know that it is only the army which is actually pursuing terrorists. Punjab and KPK governments will forever remain reluctant to fight Pakistan's enemies.

What about freedom of speech???
I see!! that's only allowed when you abuse Islam n Prophets AND make fun of religion in general.
End of times indeed- right will be considered wrong n wrong will perceived right.
By the way I have zero interest in "BORAKA wearing Company" - my comment is a general one.

@Waqar Jan ...the law is not about suppressing freedom of speech rather it is about not allowing anyone to break sound barriers as and when they please with total disregard to communities around them. And yes, it is also about putting checks on hate speech, Believe it or not, all civilised societies do the same.

The government is nervous and stands on wobbly feet when it comes to punishing a mullah whether he be famous or infamous. Yes, Musharraf had and has the courage to do it. Not the PPP and PMLN. These cases are just for keeping oneself busy. Aakhir file ka pait to bhar na hain. Salams

Any time this guy spends in jail and off the street is a plus.
If he learns a lesson and obeys the law - justice is done.
If he afterward turns out to be a malcontent and jumps back on the bull horn he needs more lessons, ad infinitum.
Like my wife, he just does not know who's in charge.

Abpara police station must be keeping bunch of photo copied blanket 'regret' letters from Lal Masjid, just enter the latest subject and the its date --- that's it, till next violation. Simple; isn't?

It was only a few days back that the interior minister had announced in the USA that mulla Azizi has submitted a written apology to the police. The very next day his junior issued a denial to the media that no such apology was issued.
This is where our law enforcement boss stands.
What do we expect from junior police officers ?

I recall in the 1960s someone I knew from a well-known Muslim family (he is now dead, so rest easy any religious zealots wanting retribution) grabbing the .303 from the sentry at the front gate of his parents' compound in Karachi and shooting out the loudspeaker in the minaret of the nearby mosque after the maulvi refused to heed entreaties and warnings from local residents and authorities for waking everyone up at 4am. Naturally, I do not recommend taking the law into one's own hands .... certainly not over such a matter in today's Pakistan where a fitting legal charge of discharging a firearm in a public place would be subsumed by the frenzied religious blowback of a mob who would tear the person limb from limb and then set fire to the corpse.

No sir. The TTP had already been "conceived" within the walls of the masjid. Gen. Musharraf was simply trying to "abort" it.
