LAKKI MARWAT: Elementary and secondary education department district education officer Nazir Khan has formed four teams to conduct annual inspection of government middle, high and higher secondary schools in the district.

Assistant district education officer Sharifullah Khan told Dawn on Friday that Government High Secondary School Naurang principal Sifatullah Khan, Government Higher Secondary School Landiwah principal Sanaullah Khan, Government Higher Secondary School Shahbazkhel principal Bakhtullah Shah and Government High School No 2 Lakki principal Ismatullah Khan would head the four teams.

He said the inspection teams also having subject specialists, secondary schoolteachers and other teachers as members would evaluate the academic performance of students and check course completion during the imminent exercise.

“Besides revaluating students, the teams will also examine cleanliness conditions, learning environment and security arrangements at schools,” he said.

Sharifullah Khan said the record of the pupil’s fund, PTC fund, admission withdrawal and stock registers, and the teachers’ attendance and leaves would also be checked and scrutinised.

He said inspection teams would evaluate the performance of schools in extracurricular activities, especially sports, scouting, literary and tree plantation events.

“The overall performance of teachers and school heads will be evaluated on the basis of their role in teaching and learning activities, maintaining discipline, imparting quality education to students, and keeping school environment clean, safe and student-friendly,” he said.

The ADEO said the heads of inspection teams would submit their remarks on school affairs to the district education officer with concrete proposals.

He also said during inspection, the teams would focus on assessing the role of school heads in ensuring provision of basic facilities, including drinking water, electricity, latrines and boundary walls and furniture, to their respective educational institutions.

“The inspection teams are authorised to check all sorts of record and relevant matters,” he said, adding that principals and headmasters of government middle, high and higher secondary schools had been directed to cooperate with those teams.

ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: A security official died and four suffered serious injuries in a road accident on Friday.

A military vehicle was on the way to Naurang when it collided with an oil tanker head-on near Serai Gambila on the Indus Highway. The accident left five soldiers seriously injured who were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital Bannu, where one of them succumbed to injuries.

The police arrested oil tanker driver Samiullah and seized his vehicle before registering a case and beginning investigation.
