KARACHI: While the Muttahida Qaumi Movement came out in complete support of CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy earlier on Tuesday, his press conference in the evening irked the party to an extent that it termed him a ‘liar’ for allegedly changing his stance.

“Ahmed Chinoy has proved himself a liar by completely changing his stance....It would have been much better if he had announced his resignation [as CPLC chief] in protest,” said an MQM spokesman.

Earlier, MQM chief Altaf Hussain issued a hard-hitting statement condemning an “inappropriate and insulting treatment” meted out to Mr Chinoy by officers and personnel of the Rangers.

“This insulting treatment is not only meted out to Ahmed Chinoy but to all Mohajirs in general and the Memon community in particular,” said Mr Hussain.

He also assured Mr Chinoy and the Memon community of his party’s full cooperation in whatever protest they planned.

Later, Mr Chinoy held a press conference in which he denied that his residence was raided by Rangers.

As soon as he finished his press conference, the MQM spokesman reacted angrily and said his body language was not in conformity with his utterances at the press conference.

The spokesman said it would have been better if Mr Chinoy had narrated facts at the press conference. The spokesman questioned that how people could know about facts when prominent citizens would not narrate their ordeal for fear.
