PM calls parliamentary leaders tomorrow to finalise anti-terror plan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called in a meeting of Parliamentary leaders at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday (tomorrow).

The meeting would finalise the national action plan aimed at countering terrorism and extremism which has been prepared by a parliamentary committee in consensus with all political stakeholders in the country.

Prime Minister Nawaz would also consult Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in this regard.

Anti-terrorism action committee meeting under way in Parliament House

A meeting of the anti-terrorism action committee meeting on Tuesday, with members of all parliamentary parties in attendance, is under way at the Parliament House in the federal capital.

The meeting is being headed by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The recommendations collected by the recently constituted anti-terrorism working group of counter-terror experts will be brought forward for discussion.

Earlier, the working group had finalised its recommendations in relation to measures that can be taken for effectively combating the scourge of terrorism. The working group had evaluated the post Peshawar tragedy scenario and discussed laws pertinent to terrorism.

Now its about 19 months in office, nation is still waiting for ACTION. Meetings & committees not enough. Political elites & their family members have full security, all paid by poor tax payers of Pakistan. But avery Pakistani citizen is not safe walking on streets and children are not safe in schools. Politicians, please less speech, more ACTION, to eliminate terrorism & criminals from the society. Thank you.

@Awais Ali Very true. Yes, ACTION against terrorists is need of the day. Please capture & kill them ASAP. Pakistani citizens cannot to waste time listening speeches. Nation wants ACTION & Results. Lets see if PML(N) can deliver results?

Instead of Chaudhry Nisar, shouldn't the anti-terrorism committee be headed by an ex-army individual who has a clue about how to deal with it? We talk about all the time how certain areas be headed by former judges as they are perceived to be honest. In the same context, this committee should be headed by a former General/Colonel/Major/Captain who has a proven record of delivering his assignments. Unless competent people are part of this committee, this will be ineffective.

@Pakistani Absolutely correct. You can't go on fooling the people for ever. The Frankenstein created by policy of habouring terrorists for strategic depth has turned back to haunt you. At the end what has the nation got out of it. Course correction is required. Hollow statements may help the politicians and the army to escape the wrath of people till another incidence comes. Stop the ideology of spreading terrorism which will take a long time as it is so deeply entrenched in the social spaces.At least make a beginning. Either it is now or never.
