QUETTA: Militants blew up a main gas pipeline in Pir Koh gas field area in Dera Bugti district late on Saturday night.

Levies Force officials said that militants planted explosive material under the 18-inch-diameter pipeline, supplying gas from wells to a purification plant, and detonated it with remote control.

A 10-foot part of the pipeline blew up, leading to suspension of supply through the pipeline.

Repair of the pipeline will be undertaken on Sunday after security clearance.
