LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has acquired 6,000 kanals for its residential project “LDA City” on Ferozepur Road linking Defence Road and the southern loop of Ring Road.

Land for the 60,000-kanal project is being acquired in Kahna, Kacha, Thay Panju, Sidhar, Halloki, Rakh Jhedu and Toor Warraich.

An official say the recent wave of protests slowed down the land acquisition but the process would be accelerated with a soft launch of the scheme in the next week.

“Besides this, officials, including the land acquisition collector, have been asked to press development partners to speed up land purchase and its transfer to the LDA,” he said. The authority plans to complete the land acquisition in two months.

In the scheme, the LDA will launch a regular balloting of its plots after the completion of the land acquisition process. The official said the people could buy such plots (called exemption cases) in the scheme after checking record from the LDA officials.

About the proposed balloting of plots in LDA Avenue-I residential scheme, the official said the Punjab Information Technology Board had agreed to conduct a transparent computerised balloting by December end. He said experts had created 2,000 additional plots in the scheme.

He said allotment holders were being given possession of plots in the 70 per cent of the cleared area of the scheme.

DENGUE: The CDGL completed dengue surveillance of 41,045 houses and 12,944 open places in the city on Thursday.

Field teams performed surveillance at 98 graveyards, 290 junkyards and 322 tyre shops besides spraying at 889 sensitive houses located in different areas of the city, a spokesman said in a statement.
