Gullu Butt to wash dishes during jail term

LAHORE: In compliance with an order issued by a special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore, Gullu Butt, the baton-wielding man seen damaging vehicles during the Model Town tragedy, will wash dishes during his term in jail.

Shahid Aziz alias Gullu Butt was accused of smashing private vehicles with a club outside the Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town on June 17 when police was trying to remove barriers from outside the residence of Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.

Police personnel did not stop Butt and were on the contrary seen to be encouraging him. His act of vandalism was caught by TV cameras.

Faisal Town police had registered a case against Gullu Butt. On Thursday, the ATC had sentenced Butt to 11 years in prison and had also enforced a fine of Rs100,000 on him.

Butt has also been tasked with the responsibility of washing dishes as well as ensuring the overall cleanliness of the jail.

This is wonderfull news of this whole year..... even much better than if someone will say that IK had called-off his sit-in(Part Time)... Even if he would have been tortured by police would not been that satsfying than to hear him washing dishes for whole jail..

What about the police who is seen encouraging him, and the other government officials who instructed police to do so? They should also be jailed. If they are not jailed, those officials will do such things again. Imran is doing the right thing.

I dont know how to feel for this bloke. He should be punished but on the other hand I feel that 11 years is way to much. I also feel that he should request for another case and he names the personnel or other people who were his collaborators and who ordered him to do this. Then all of them should be punished the same way.

No sympathy with Gullu but the news item should be as: Gullu to wash dishes during jail term and Tahir ul Qadri and Imran Khan to soak these. Gullu for smashing cars and rest of the two for smashing PTV and Parliament buildings!!!

What about the police officials who watched and shared the cold drinks he stole. Were they suspended? I am sure this is a gimmick to satisfy the media and public. He is fined 100,000 for damaging vehicles worth 10 times more.

What a joke? First he is fined only $1,000. The cost of damage alone to the cars is a lot more. Then what about the police officials who stood in the vicinity ignoring what he was doing and going about their business? Why are they not being prosecuted? Did the prosecutors even try and find out if he was a lone wolf or acting on behalf of someone else, which is more likely the case?

Isn't it injustice? How do you explain 10 or 11 years for damaging vehicles. How do you explain the freedom of those who hired his services during this incident? what about those who supported promoted and gave him access to the place where the incident occurred? Also, what about the several other big thieves still out there? I think the judge and his judgement both are equally unqualified!!
