SIALKOT: A police constable and two suspected dacoits were killed in an alleged encounter near Dugri Harian village, Pasrur tehsil, late on Friday.

Constable Muhammad Naveed was going to the Phalora police station after patrolling when three dacoits intercepted his motorcycle, held him at gunpoint and started looting him. When Naveed offered resistance, the dacoits beat him up and later shot him dead.

A police team reached the spot and chased the suspects who fired on the policemen.

The force retaliated, killing two of the dacoits whose bodies were found in nearby fields. Their third associate managed to escape.

Senior police officials said the killed dacoits were identified as Nadeem and Arshad.

Phalora police registered a case against the deceased under sections 13, 20, 65, 302, 324 and 392 of the PPC and shifted the bodies to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

DOUBLE MURDER: A couple was mysteriously found slaughtered in Sahowala village of Sambrial tehsil.

According to initial police investigation, the bodies of Mashooq Ali and his wife Musarrat Bibi were found in their house a few days ago with their arms and legs tied and throats slit with a sharp-edged weapon.

Sambrial police said they were alerted by neighbours of a foul smell emanating from the couple’s house who were then found dead inside.

Police shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital for autopsy and started an investigation with no arrests til the filing of this report.
