PESHAWAR: Opposition parties in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have decided to move the Peshawar High Court against what they said inequitable distribution of funds allocated for schemes in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2014-15.

The decision was taken in a meeting of parliamentary parties held at the opposition leader’s chamber here on Thursday. Leader of the Opposition Maulana Lutfur Rehman chaired the meeting.

Awami National Party parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak told mediapersons that there was resentment among members of the five opposition parties over unfair distribution of funds. He said that the meeting decided, in principle, to challenge the allocation of funds for development schemes in the PHC.

He said that a five-member opposition committee would scrutinise the ADP and then it would be challenged in the court in the next few days. The committee comprises Syed Jafar Shah, Sardar Hussain, Sultan Mohammad Khan, Akbar Hayat Khan and Malik Riaz.

A member of the opposition party said that under a special package Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had allocated Rs20 million for every MPA from the opposition side while every member of the ruling coalition had been sanctioned Rs40 million for development schemes in their respective constituencies. He said that many like-minded MPAs of the ruling parties had been sanctioned Rs200 million for schemes.
