Cheques given to people injured in Indian shelling

SIALKOT: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has distributed cheques for Rs75,000 each among 23 people injured by the Indian shelling on border villages in Sialkot.

The chief minister distributed these cheques at Combined Military Hospital here on Thursday.

He also inquired after the injured persons and presented bouquets to them.

Mr Shahbaz announced Rs0.5 million compensation each for next of kin of those who died in the Indian shelling.

He also condemned the unprovoked shelling and targeting of civilian population by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF).

He termed the firing by Indian BSF a violation of international ceasefire laws and human rights as well. The chief minister urged the United Nations to take serious notice of the brutal killing of innocent citizens in border villages.

MNA Chaudhry Armughan Subhani, MPAs Zaeem Qadri, Chaudhry Muhammad Ikram, Manshaullah Butt, Rana Liaquat Ali, Chaudhry Mohsin Ashraf, Chaudhry Arshad Javaid Warraich, Sialkot DCO Nadeem Sarwar and Sufi Muhammad Ishaq were also present.

Dear Sharif Sb, You have to take strict action against LOC issue instead of just distributing checks. (Make sure what your responsibilities are?) Further agreed with above comment of @ Sayyar Khan.

It is most unfortunate, when the affected went to bank to cash the cheque, there was no money in the governmental coffers so the cheque has been essentially rejected. This is horrible.

I have a friend in Bahrudin Mandi, and I m gonna visit him without any fear, next month only.. hamare bazurg bhee dushmani mein mar gaye, woh 20th century ke log thay, we are 21st century people, decide kya karna hai, khushhaal jeena hai, yaa dushmani koh nibhate hue marna hai...

That money equals to just one minute of shelling. What a waste of money and life for the sake of internationalizing a non issue and what a price for diversion. We have lost our sense of rational thinking.

Irrespective of which ever nation starts firing, end of the day it is these poor citizens who pay the price. Neither the ministers, nor the generals. Can any amnt ever compensate for the losses they undergo?
