TAXILA:  The sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Taxila circle has been made officer on special duty (OSD)after police under his supervision not only failed to control crime in Taxila but were found involved in torturing and harassing innocent people.

In the recent past, Taxila and Wah Cantonment have witnessed alarming increase in theft, robberies and other crimes.

Besides, complaints of harassment, illegal detention and involving innocent people in fake cases were also on the rise against SHOs, inspectors and sub-inspectors.

The mysterious disappearance of Hameed Khan during police illegal detention and their failure to produce him dead or alive despite lapse of three months has further tarnished their image.

Instead of arresting the policemen involved in his disappearance, the seniors of local police are protecting them, sources said.

The SDPO Taxila circle Malik Mohammad Irshad was directed to report to central Police lines Lahore. DSP Saddar circle, Chakwal, Mohammad Saleem Khattak will replace him.
