MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi has urged the leadership of different political parties, including the PPP and the PML-N, to support him in by-polls for NA-149 seat.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, Mr Hashmi said he did not ask for party ticket from Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, but he would ask the leadership of all political parties, including the PPP, the PML-N, Jamaat-i-Islami, PTI and MQM, to support him in the by-polls.
“All these parties should support me for the sake of democracy and prosperity of the country,” he said.
He said PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi had resigned from his NA-150 seat and the speaker should not delay in accepting his resignation.

“I am going to Islamabad to meet the National Assembly speaker and I will ask him to accept the resignation of Shah Mahmood Qureshi,” he said.
Mr Hashmi said he would even move the Supreme Court for the acceptance of Qureshi’s resignation.
He said he would not ask for the resignation of any other PTI member.
He said he would contest the elections against Shah Mahmood Qureshi in NA-150 after the acceptance of his resignation. “Later, I will withdraw the seat in favour of the PML-N,” he said.
Seeks PPP, PML-N support for by-polls
He said the youth of the PTI was being hoodwinked and the by-polls in Multan were an obvious case in point.
“On the one hand PTI lawmakers have resigned from their seats in assemblies and announced boycotting the by-polls in Multan while on the other arrangements are being made for a public gathering against me in Multan,” Mr Hashmi said.
He said Shah Mahmood Qureshi desired to bring Imran Khan to Multan for a public gathering against him, but he wanted to make it clear that he (Hashmi) enjoyed respect and support in his constituency.

The RPO has rejected the appeals of terminated constables Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Iqbal, Ansar Abbas, Ubaid Nazim, Javed Akhtar, Abdul Razzaq and Atiqur Rehman.
The appeal of constable Amir Hameed was rejected while the appeal of constable Shaukat Ali was disposed of.
He accepted the appeals of constable Muhammad Ishfaq (Vehari) and constable/driver Javed Iqbal (Lodhran).
The appeal of Inspector Umer Farooq (Multan) was rejected and the appeal of Inspector Rizwan Khan was accepted.
The RPO accepted three appeals of Inspector Muhammad Nadim (Multan) and rejected his one appeal. Three appeals of Sub-Inspector Shaukat Ali (Multan) were accepted while one each appeals of Inspector Ghulam Nabi was accepted, rejected and censured.
The appeal of Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Zakariya was rejected while the appeal of ASI Nazeer Ahmed was accepted.
The RPO rejected one appeal of head-constable Mazhar Abbas and two appeals of head-constable Zaffar Iqbal.
