KARAK: The local traders and elders have demanded of the authorities to shift the fruits and vegetables market out of the city.

They said that the presence of fruits and vegetables market had caused serious problems for the residents of the Old Bazaar.

Addressing a meeting here on Monday, local elders and traders including Iqbal Khan, Mohammad Altaf, Haq Nawaz and others said that the road passing through the fruits and vegetables market was narrow and could not sustain the load of goods vehicles and rush of local population.

They said that the road remained blocked for hours whenever a vehicle load with fruits and vegetables was parked at the market. The blockade of raod caused severe problems for people, they added.

The traders claimed that the space along the road at the bazaar was occupied by small time venders and cart pushers.

The residents of Old Bazaar, particularly women and children, faced severe problems when they went to or came out of their houses, they added.

They said that the road of Old Bazaar should be widened and the fruits and vegetables market should be shifted out of the city to provide relief to the local people.
