LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Friday averted a sabotage bid by arresting a suspected militant and seizing a big quantity of explosives from him in Darra Pezu town here.

An official said that police arrested the suspected militant at a bus stand and seized two bags, containing 10kg explosives and 2,000 empty bullets.

He was identified as Zahir Shah of Tank district.

The official said that the explosives and empty shells were used in making homemade bombs and improvised explosive devices. “A case was registered against the arrested man under relevant sections of law and investigation started,” he said.

Meanwhile, armed persons shot dead a man and injured his son in Kotka Sardar Gandi Khankhel near Naurang town on Thursday night.

Rehmatullah, who was injured in the attack, told police that four armed men entered their house on the night between Thursday and Friday and opened fire on them, seriously injuring him and his father, who died while being taken to hospital. The victim was identified as Hukamzad. The complainant said his family had no enmity with anyone and that the armed men might have entered his house with to commit robbery. —Correspondent
