DESPITE many parties asking the government to hold dialogue with Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri to resolve the present political crises, the PML-N is insisting upon the use of force. The same attitude brought them disaster in 1993 and 1999.

The mounting loss of life and property in Islamabad due to the stand-off speaks volumes about the government’s mismanagement. Apparently there seems no immediate remedy to resolve this deadlock.

The role played by some of the other party leaders supporting Prime Minister Sharif has exposed their intention to exploit the situation for personal benefit. They must realise their actions are adversely affecting the democratic system.

The PML-N must bear in mind that those protesting in Islamabad also have equal rights as citizens. The government’s stubbornness is the reason the law and order situation is deteriorating daily and power seems to be slipping from the rulers’ hands.

I beseech the leaders from both sides to hold effective talks and have mercy on the people of Islamabad and the country.
