GUJRANWALA: An expatriate allegedly killed his wife and three daughters with the help of his two son-in-laws and a brother-in-law in Usman Colony here on Sunday.

According to sources, Arif Hussain had been living in Saudi Arabia for many years, while his wife Zahida Bibi lived here, along with their daughter Anam.

Sources said two married daughters of Arif -- Rozina Kanwal wife of Naeem and Ma’avia wife of Zulfiqar – had also started living with their mother Zahida after developing differences with their in-laws.

Two sons-in-law of suspect among ‘accomplices’

Sources said a few days back, Arif’s both sons-in-law complained to him about character of their wives and Zahida. At this, Arif immediately returned to Pakistan.

On Sunday, Arif with the help of Naeem, Zulfiqar and Saeed (Zahida’s brother), strangled his three daughters and wife. The suspects fled the scene after informing Zahida’s father Sharif about the incident.

Civil Lines police, on being informed of the incident, reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital.

They also registered a case against the suspects.

PROTEST: Gujranwala Press Club members on Sunday took out a procession and held a rally to protest police torture of journalists covering the agitation in Islamabad.

They also condemned killing of journalists of a news agency in Quetta and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

The journalists’ procession was led by press club president Tariq Muneer Butt and senior journalist Akram Malik.

The protesters marched from press club to GT road and chanted slogans, demanding arrest of those who attacked their colleagues doing their professional work.
