KHAR: A soldier was injured when militants from across the border attacked a security checkpost in Ghakhi area of Bajaur Agency on Tuesday.

Officials said that the attackers, who had come from Afghanistan’s Kunar province, fired several rockets at the checkpost located in the border area of Mamond tehsil, about 32km from here.

Security forces aided by volunteers of the Village Defence Com-mittee repulsed the attack. No causality was reported on the militants’ side.

The injured soldier was taken to a Khar hospital where his condition was said to be stable. None has claimed responsibility for the assault.
