PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan on Tuesday said conspirators had destabilised democracy in the country and once again such people were active with their ulterior motives to weaken democracy.

He, however, said in the end, democracy would prevail and thus ensuring the country’s development.

He said this while addressing the internally displaced persons of North Waziristan Agency at Bakakhel camp in Bannu.

The governor accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and federal information minister Pervaiz Rasheed went to Bannu to celebrate Eidul Fitr with IDPs, said a handout issued here.

The three visited Bakakhel camp and distributed relief goods, cash and gifts among IDPs.

The governor said the country had been facing more problems from internal enemies compared to external ones and that it was the need of the hour that the people should get united to eliminate enemies.

He appreciated the efforts of the federal government for maintaining law and order in the country and said for the first time in the last decade, the people had celebrated a peaceful Eidul Fitr.

He said no act of terrorism and violence had taken place from Bolan to Khyber and Gilgit to Mehran during Eid days.

The governor also praised the armed forces and tribesmen for contributing to peace efforts.

“Now, violence and destruction will not be our destiny and instead, development and prosperity will become our fate. The federal government will leave no stone unturned for rehabilitation of IDPs,” he said.

On the occasion, the Punjab chief minister announced the construction of Danish schools, a hospital, and a modern university in North Waziristan.
