KARACHI: President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday visited famous literary figure of the country Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi to inquire after his health.

On the occasion, the president said being an ardent reader of the books written by one of the most outstanding humorists of Asia and a prominent figure of Urdu literature, he eagerly looked forward to any new work by Mr Yousufi.

The president said writers hold a distinct place in society and people like Mr Yousufi were a source of pride for the country.

“People not only enjoy the writings of Yousufi Sahib, but many are also groomed through his work,” said the president.

Expressing his gratitude to the president, Mr Yousufi said that his latest work with the title Shar-i-Yaaran was in the process of compilation and would soon be available to readers.

Later, the president went to meet his teacher and former head of the IBA-Karachi Prof Danishmand.

Paying tribute to his teacher, President Hussain said educationists, scholars and writers were assets for any society.
