LAHORE: Hunjarwal police arrested two suspects on Monday who were allegedly involved in the killing of an elite force personnel and injuring four others in a clash over refusal of a marriage proposal in Sabzazar Colony.

Investigation officer Talib Husain told Dawn that police arrested the suspects, Ayaz and Umair while raids were being conducted to arrest their accomplices.

According to initial police findings, a Sabzazar Colony resident, Ishfaq, had rented out his house to Umair Yousuf some six months ago.

Following a dispute over refusal of marriage proposal involving Yousuf’s son and Ishfaq’s daughter, Ishfaq asked the tenant to vacate his house but he refused.

On Monday, they again exchanged words on the issue after which Umair returned with his brothers Zubair, Ayaz and four others and allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on the landlord.

Resultantly, Ishfaq, his son Sumair and his brother-in-law Shahbaz Ahmad, an elite police personnel, suffered multiple bullet injuries. They were rushed to hospital where Shahbaz succumbed to his wounds.

Police said the arrested suspects were also injured in the clash.

ACCIDENT: An 11-year-old boy died in an accident on Bedian Road on Monday.

According to Rescue officials, Kashif was run over by a truck while he was crossing a road near Askari-XI.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver left the truck on the road and ran away from the scene.

The police registered a case and impounded the truck.
