PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Durrani on Thursday reviewed the investigations into the plane attack case and ordered strict security in surrounding areas of the Bacha Khan International Airport.

Presiding over a high-level meeting, the IGP ordered immediate survey of high-rise buildings around the airport and deployment of 1,000 police officials for the task.

Discussing strict security measures in the troubled areas, Mr Durrani ordered house-to-house survey in Khyber Agency and nearby villages to collect data of all male residents of the areas.

The meeting decided that construction of high-rise buildings would not be allowed around the airport and all residents of nearby areas would be asked to inform the respective police station about their guests and newcomers.

The capital city police officer would ensure that firing in the air was strictly banned in areas around the airport, while the police would strengthen security of planes in consultation with security agencies and the Civil Aviation Authority.

The meeting was attended by Additional IGPs Operation and Special Branch; CCPO, DIG counter-terrorism, SSPs and SPs.
