**PESHAWAR: At least four militants and three Khasadar personnel were killed during a clash on Wednesday night when militants attacked a security check-post in Khyber Agency's Jamrud tehsil , security officials said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the death of three khasadars while eight were also injured in the exchange of fire which took place at the Sur Qamar area of Jamrud.

Official sources said the attack took place at the Hawaldari Chowki on the Pakistan-Afghanistan highway near Sor Kamar area.

A reinforcement party of the Frontier Corps (FC) sent to support security forces also came under attack, they said.

The injured included two soldiers of the Frontier Corps (FC) force.

Intelligence officials confirmed the attack and claimed that a number of militants were also killed.

Officials had earlier said the number of casualties may rise as the gun-battle continued between militants and security forces.


Blast in Khyber tribal region wounds three


An explosion outside the house of a former National Assembly contender in Khyber tribal region wounding three persons.

Rescue and security teams reached the blast site.

Sources confirmed that the victims of the blast in Bara's Qamberkhel area were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following the incident security personnel cordoned off the area and began a search operation as a probe into the incident went underway.

Khyber, one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions, near the Pak-Afghan border which is rife with militant activity.
