ISLAMABAD: Police on Thursday recovered a 13-year-old girl, kidnapped early this month, and arrested a woman, police said.

The girl was disappeared on June 6 while returning from tuition in G-11.

Her family lodged a complaint with the police when she did show up till late in the night.

The police began investigation from the family’s neighbours and when they knocked the door of one of them they did not respond.

In the absence of a search warrant, the police returned and came the next day to only find the house locked.

The police started searching for the neighbour and came to know that there used to live a Pashto speaking woman who had a criminal record.

Further investigations revealed that she planned to transport the girl to Peshawar, the police said.

The police, however, traced the woman through her mobile phone near Sabzi Mandi which led to her arrest and the recovery of the girl.
