QUETTA: Two coalminers died when poisonous gas accumulated in a mine in Dukkai area of Loralai district on Monday.

According to Levies, the miners were working deep in the coalmine when they fell unconscious. Rescue teams brought them out of the mine but they had died by then.

“Methane was found in the mine and that caused the death of the coalminers,” Levies officials said, adding that the mine had been closed and an investigation launched.

The deceased were identified as Baz Gul Achakzai and Aminullah Achakzai who were Afghan nationals. Their bodies were sent to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the body of an old man was found near Ghousia Teblighi Markaz in Satellite Town, Quetta. The body was taken to the Civil Hospital.
