Usually when a movie is specifically made to launch a superstar’s son, expectations from the project become very high. People and critics alike tend to put in extra attention on the performance of the superstar’s son. Heropanti is no different from any other such movie made in the past.

Tiger Shroff seems to have passed the initial test. The movie is now being considered a hit and Shroff is no more a superstar’s son, he is a star himself.

The movie itself does not seem to have any similarity with the first movie of Jackie Shroff, apart from the group of friends Jackie had in Hero and Tiger has in Heropanti; and the improvised and loud version of iconic 'Hero' tune.

Heropanti is a commercial movie with a lot of action, romance, comedy and some impressive acrobatic display from Shroff.

Director Sabbir Khan, who after his first venture, Kambakht Ishq (2009), has tried to bring the issue of women empowerment in this movie, with an approach that proved to be successful, touching nearly Rs 50 crore at the box office.

The dialogues, music, comedy scenes and the action sequences have nothing to rave about. But the combination of all these elements, and Tiger Shroff has done something, which is generally liked by the masses and that is the reason that the movie is declared a hit.

The story revolves around a Haryana Jat family, headed by Chaudhary Sahib (Prakash Raj) who has a very conservative approach when it comes to women. No one in the entire neighbourhood is allowed to make the choice about their life partner, let alone his own family. If anyone does, the consequences can be deadly.

However, his elder daughter runs away on the eve of her wedding with the boy she loves. All hell breaks lose as Chaudhary Sahib and his family kidnap the boy’s friends to know the whereabouts of the couple. The story takes a turn when one of the friends, Babloo (Tiger Shroff), falls in love with Chaudhary Sahib’s younger daughter.

In terms of performance, apart from Shroff, Kriti Sanon has also performed quite well despite the shallowness of the character and the script. Raj also did well in the role of a father enraged at his daughter’s daring act; and also has an interesting emotional sequence with Shroff.

Shroff looks likeable, with his six-pack abs, which he often displayed in the movie; and is probably in league with Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar in terms of his acrobatic abilities. However, he certainly needs to work on his dialogue delivery, which was quite inexpressive at times.

Overall, Heropanti is an average movie, which will remind you of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Maine Pyar Kiya, Khilari and some of Govinda’s flicks all at the same time!
