Chaman blast injures seven‏ people

QUETTA: At least seven people were injured after a blast in Chaman near the Pak-Afghan border on Tuesday, police said.

Ashraf Kakar, a police officer in Chaman told Dawn.com that militants had planted a bomb on a motorcycle parked outside a private bank on Mall road area.

He said seven people who were passing by were injured when the bomb went off.

"A loud and powerful explosion was heard throughout the city," Kakar said.

The rescue workers and police were quick at the scene to shift the injured to the nearby civil hospital.

Dr Akhtar Muhammad, the medical superintendent civil hospital told Dawn.com that all the injured people were out of danger.

The blast also smashed the windows of the bank and other buildings located in the area.

Police and a huge contingent of Frontier Corps reached the spot and cordoned off the area as the investigation into the incident went underway.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The incident has come a day after a similar blast in Chaman injured three people.
