SARGODHA: The government has two options -- dialogue and operation -- against militants to maintain its writ and it will not compromise on the interests of the country.

This was observed by Governor Chaudhry Sarwar while talking to the media during his visit to offer fateha on the death of the mother of PML-N UK chapter general secretary Javed Iqbal in Chak 69-SB, some 28km from here.

He said the public had given clear mandate to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his government opted for dialogue with the Taliban. Masses must remain optimistic about the success of peace dialogue as the government was making all-out efforts to maintain peace in the country, which was imperative for economic growth, he added.

He also directed the district coordination officer to submit a feasibility report on setting up of two filtration plants on self-help, while a school on the lines of Daanish School would also be set up at Bhatanwala.

ARRESTED: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin, while addressing a press conference, claimed the local police had arrested five men selling donkey meat.

The minister said the police received information that some people in Sain Jamal were selling donkey meat in the city and its outskirts.

A police team raided the location and arrested five men red-handed and seized a large quantity of donkey meat as well as five donkeys alive.

The men confessed to their involvement, saying they sold meat of a dead donkey or any animal found dead. They said they used a stamp of the medical officer concerned of livestock, who received a considerable amount monthly.

Yasin said the chief minister had ordered a stern action against such people who were deceiving people and playing with their lives. He said the officials patronising such elements would also be charged. He said the police had been directed to investigate and challan all those involved in such practices.

The minister was told by a journalist that some PML-N representatives were also helping such people. He said if any parliamentarian was found involved, it should be brought to the notice of the chief minister.He said the Punjab government had set up a committee to monitor process of wheat procurement and no malpractice would be tolerated. He said growers would be extended full support.
