LARKANA: A shutterdown was observed in Larkana on Friday as activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) held protests demonstrations and took out rallies in protest against detention of elders of some party workers in Ratodero.

JSQM leadership claimed that the Ratodero police picked up four persons, who appeared to be elders of some party workers, before a planned sit-in in the Bhirya Road town.

Charred bodies of Maqsood Qureshi, the brother of JSQM founder chief Bashir Qureshi, and another senior party activist, Salman Wadho, were found in a burnt out car in Bhiriya Road town on March 21. The party leadership alleges that they were burnt alive by the country’s security agencies.

On Friday morning, a large number of JSQM activists led by Mumtaz Shaikh assembled at Jinnahbagh gate staged a sit-in and burnt tyres.

Groups of JSQM activists in several other towns of Larkana district held demonstrations, rallies and sit-ins which led to the closure of business, trade and commercial centres, fuel stations and shops.
